There was a time, when I had 3 little boys, aged 3, 18 months and an infant and I found solace in the gym and their glorious 2 – 3 hours of amazing, free childcare. I lived there. Classes galore, cardio, weights, then a quick jaunt to the steam room and a shower in peace. It was my sanity. Then the kids started going to school and sports– three boys became four and I got lazy/overwhelmed/busy and my trips were fewer and farther between.

And then I picked up a camera. And my obsession shifted. I wanted to soak up everything I could find online about photography. And I did. And then came Lylah. Then a workshop, now 3…

I know I still have that gym-rat girl in me. And I’m starting to find her again. Lylah hates the idea of the gym, but is awesome with it within one minute of me leaving. I hated how “wumpy flappy” I had become (name that book!!!!!). I am on week 3 of eating better and hitting the gym and I am so much happier again. It’s so much easier to do this than to constantly feel crappy about myself and hate getting dressed. Turns out I can carve out time in my day for it and still get everything done. I am coming full circle…I can balance it all…

life is good.

Now for my breakfast/lunch smoothie:

1 EAS Advant-edge vanilla shake
1 C ice
handful of blueberries
handful of raspberries
1/2 banana
2 T or so of ground flax seeds
then fill the rest of the blender up with baby spinach
3 T or so of Chobani non fat plain greek yogurt

It looks quite nasty, but I really like it and I’m super picky

That’s 291 calories, 20 g of carbs and 31 g of protein. I put it in a huge cup in the fridge and drink it for the rest of the day.

High School registration paperwork came home today. How did that happen so fast? How did my 5 pound baby boy get high school paperwork? There must be a mistake. I was just in NICU holding him for the first time.

Not only that, I got the same registration paper and book like 4 days ago for ME! It came with a button. It had LBHS written on it with a piece of masking tape on the back and a number. Someone won a prize in the round library with the orange carpet with their lucky number. I still have it. So how am I old enough to have a child going through that?

Just like I saw on Pinterest the other day…the days are long but the years are short. Nothing could be more true. I gotta find that on a canvas and hang it in the house.

In the meantime, I’ll enjoy him at age 13….which isn’t bad. Really. I like it, actually. and him. I love him.

Sunday at the Hospital {22/366}

Forest fires, pollen galore, no rain and a cold = asthma for poor B. The worst he’s had for years. We tried to go to Solantic and they offered to call us an ambulance. Not a good a sign-and we drove. Thankfully, our pediatrician called and said to only go to the main hospital downtown for their pediatric ER and I’m so grateful we did. They were wonderful. They had huge ER rooms with their own bathrooms and TVs with great edited movies so they’d be kid friendly. And they started treatment within 10 minutes of us getting out of the car. I hate that he has to go through this. I hope it ends soon.

5 hours later, we were free to leave and my boy can breathe clearly once again.

I think. I know I had it when I was a little girl and it seemed old then…so I think it was hers. This is when it sucks that I can’t ask her

. I do know that my dad used to bring me little dolls dressed in the native clothing of the country/state they came from. They were lined up on my dresser with Madame Alexander dolls that were disassembled by 4 and 5 year old Carson and Braden. (Possibly my worst moment as a mom ever….)
